Hi @Joseph_Chiu I have a bowden feed and when it blocks (as @Tim_Sills does) the extruder starts to chew the filament - all quite visibly a long way from the head.
I have a fan pointed at the bit above the hot-end and initially there was an issue where there was a wire blocking the flow of air - but that is all clear now.
Right - so if it’s chewing up the filament, it’s likely because there’s no space for the filament to go under the nozzle – so just let it air print a bit until it goes up a couple layers and then let it resume printing.
@Rex_Bigger are you sure that your extruder can do .040 layers. that is crazy thin so flow rates are low. The extrusion looks clumpy. I dont know what your hot end is but .04 mm requires some careful consideration on flow rate.
I can also vouch for @Joseph_Chiu 's reference cause at one point my bed wasn’t level and the head was smashed in too close to the bed and you’d see something like this where it looks like it’s under extruding or even tearing across layers. I releveled everything but still had the funky extrusion issues.
