Folks, I purchased the Matrix Precision bed upgrade for my Printrbot Simple Metal and don’t know where to mount the thermistor for the heated bed. I have done searches and have had conflicting answers. The bed has grooves as you can see on the bottom left, but unlike the one sold by Printrbot it does not have a grove to place it between the bed and the pad

I got a reply from Chris (the designer) he said that its best to tape it to the bottom of the pad, where I have it in the pic. He stated that he didnt make the groove under the pad because if the thermistor goes bad you have to remove the pad. And you would destroy the pad trying to remove it as its taped well

I usually use a piece of kapton tape to mount it to the bottom of the heat plate and then if you have room insulating the bottom with some cardboard wrapped in foil tape helped me a lot to speed up heating times and maintain a more regular temperature. Don’t know if it will work for your Printrbot though I use Prusa Mendels.

Add some heat (fire proof) cement, commonly available at local hardware store in the bbq sections or fireplace improvements, or your could add aluminum plate, it is best to tape the thermistor on build plate aluminum, since it’s what supposed to be measured anyways (thus the hole in the middle of the build plate), not the heating element, also adding pins and securing you cable connections with bigger wire (less flexible), but the mod involves scraping 2cm of the solder mask
