From the projects i´ve published so far and especially the Truggy i have learned an important lesson, find good multiple geographic sources for parts needed in the projects.
So from now on i´ll be sure to atleast find one European source and on US source for parts. Hopefully this will make like alot easier for those engaging in these projects.
Any thoughts on this from the community?
That said does anyone know of a good source for 8x14x01mm/8x14x0,2mm shim rings (Both US and European of course)?
Cheap vitamins are better, e.g. From aliexpress or hobbyking (those usually ship almost anywhere). But have the risk of them becoming unobtanium.
Perhaps parts from a common model that has cheap 3rd party compatibles/replacements is the best bet? Not sure how many of those exist though!
I think in the end if it’s open source then it can always be modified to fit a different part!
McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com) have 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, … in that size; packs of 10 or 50 (depending on material).
Racing Suspension Products (http://www.racingsuspensionproducts.com/shim/shim.html) have 0.10, 0.15 and 0.25mm shims in that size; sold individually and slightly more expensive.
