Frustration vent: I have a performance at Dive Bar (http://divebarsacramento.com) tomorrow night in the Glimmer tail. Their tank is salt water and full if crazy tropical fish. Yesterday’s warmup rehearsal went great but in the final dress rehearsal (the one with the pro photographer snapping away) the tail went totally haywire. Its gotta be a waterproofing issue… The lights all worked fine until I climbed into the tank that second time and then it was nothing but darkness or crazy flickers.

I’m the show’s big finale and I am terrified that this is going to happen again tomorrow night. I’m going to go in there and do all the waterproofing I can today, but I was up all night stressing and worrying. Ugh.

It’s generally true in show business that having a terrible dress rehearsal leads to having an absolutely amazing show. I hope that’s all this is. At least I got a little video of the initial swim. The tail looks absolutely fantastic in that tank. Hopefully I’ll get everything working by tomorrow night. Crossing my fins!

Good luck working this out! Have you been able to find the leak?

flickers and blackouts have always been a stupid ground wire issue in my cases. Id expect different issues if water was getting involved. Hope you get it sorted!

I used to repair cell phones a few years ago, when a customer dropped their phone is water, especially salt water, corrosion set in surprisingly fast. The copper turned a fuzzy white, look around your rig for fuzzies on copper parts.

Oh man that sucks. If you have a leak somewhere, that’s going to be a pain in the rear to track down. I’d start by checking each joint, actually move them back and forth, and look for breaks and cracks. Sometimes a crack won’t show itself till you move the piece. And if you did have a leak and water got in, corrosion sets in pretty fast considering how thin the copper is. Hopefully you can catch it quick and fix the problem, even if it’s just a band-aid for tonight and you tear things apart over the weekend for a permanent fix.

Good luck! Also, kind of wish I wasn’t in Boston right now - it’d be really tempting to drive out to sac to see this (most days I’m in Berkeley).
