G code control of 4th and 5th steppers

Is there a way to get linear control of the fourth and fifth motor controls so that straight line movements (G0 and G1) will work as will recognition of end stops on the fourth and fifth axes. There is a fork of the Smoothie firmware by Opentrons that currently does this but I am wondering if this will become a standard feature at some point in the future. It would be very useful for us.

This is a planned feature of Smoothie v2, but right now only Opentron’s fork does this.

What are you using the board for ?

We are building a liquid handling robot, similar to Opentrons, although different components, software, focus. Control of the pipetting function (A and B motors) is conceptually simpler if you can think in terms of linear motion.
