Given the large number of recent questions and posts that have come to light

Given the large number of recent questions and posts that have come to light in the past few days regarding licenses and what is and isn’t valid, I think it would be useful to create a new section for them on this forum. That way, we have a more organized way to talk about licensing issues.

What are everyone’s thoughts on this?

Sounds like a great idea, imho

@ThantiK I’ve already talked to @foosel and she thinks it’s a good idea as well. What should we call it, “Licensing Issues”?

‘Licenses and possible license violations’ perhaps?

Big thumbs up from my side.

Regarding the name, “issues” might limit it a bit. Maybe “Licensing questions” would be less “there already is a problem” focused?

I thought about “Licensing questions”, but I didn’t want to limit it to just questions. For example, if I wrote a blog post on the subject maybe. I agree our community is definitely more geared towards questions, though.

How about just “Intellectual Property” rather than focusing on licenses? Could capture patents and such there too.

How about just “Legal”. That should be general enough and descriptive.

@Neil_Darlow  I like that

And my wife would say “Legal, moral and ethical” because she has an opinion on these matters :smiley:

As does mine Neil! I think a legal section is a great idea.

Awesome, thanks everyone. I just added the category called “Legal”.

“Legal Challenges”?

@John_Driggers Louise has reason to! :wink:

Good idea.

I think that these sorts of problems are only going to get more and more important in the near future, so an organised approach is probably best.
