GLCD, build height and sdcard problems.

Hello, i am a new smoothie user.

I bought the board from robotseed incl the GLCD adapterboard.

1:
I can’t get the display to work. It works on my rampsboard.
I have soldered the little jumper on the adapterboard, soldered all headers on mainboard, i tried a TO220 7805 (1.5A) as i just ordered the 0.5A with the board.
The 7805 gets really hot (yes it is connected correct). The 0.5A also gets hot when used.
The display just have background light, and beeps when the dial is pressed.
I have used the recommended config for the display.

I am running it on a delta, and all axes works. After homing and on my way down to the buildplate, i can jog all towers all the way to the bottom
below 0. I have a build height of 614mm (big delta)
Gamma_max is set to 614
When run on Ramps, i could never go past 0 (avoiding headcrash).
Is there a Gamma_min i have missed?

The sd card gets corrupted all too easy i think. It seems all power must be off to remove it, not just the usb cable.
Or am i doing something wrong?

It’s very hard to connect to the board. Simplify 3d is easiest. RepetierHost has big problems connecting, it takes forever and most of the time
it respond that there is no comport.
Seems like all eventually connect, but only after several minutes.

Beginners (un)luck ?

Hey.

About the LCD, can you try adjusting the contrast potentiometer ?

About the delta, we don’t have that sort of limits in Smoothie ( people are currently adding stuff related to that )

About the SD card, it’s very important that it be unmounted in the computer’s file system before you unplug or power off or remove it.

About problems connecting, this can be due to ground loop problems : try a shorter USB cable, plug the printer and the computer into the same power strip, get a better USB cable.

Cheers.

Hmm. I connected it to my ramps board to check it, it did not work there either….
Double checked so it was enabled and the ub8lib was included when i compiled the firmware, but i could not get it to work again.
I have had it working before, don’t understand how it could go bad just by sitting in my deskdrawer.

So i’ll have to buy a new one.

All the rest is solved i think.

The machine is printing now.

I’ve had the same issue where Repetier wouldn’t connect most of the time. Sometimes it would, but it would take FOREVER to connect, and commands seemed to process really slowly as well. Not sure why Repetier’s connection wouldn’t be working right…
