Excellent prints, @Colin_Bell . I continue to be amazed at what users can create with Nylon. Both artistic and utility.
Nice write up. You had better luck with me with adhesion, which is especially hard for large parts because 618 warps so much (even with a heated bed). I need a Tufnol/Garolite bed for most things, but even that gets warped, so I made since clips to hold it down.
I’ve had poor layer adhesion at 238 degrees, which is all my printer head can safely do. I’ve got an all metal hot end on the way to try 245. BTW even at the lower temperatures I get some scorching of the plastic; it just seems to be the way nylon reacts to prolonged heating.
The other variants from Taulman have less warp apparently and I have some to test once I upgrade my hot end.
@Rupert_Rawnsley Thanks! I have got some Tufnol to try, but I’m stumped at how to get automatic levelling working on the Printrbot. I tried putting aluminium foil on the places where the inductive probe lands but the results were very inconsistent. I think that until I can sort that out I will stick with kapton and glue.
@Tom_Martz thanks Tom! It’s a really nice material to work with. I will be ordering some additional types of nylon from Taulman to try soon.
