My new baby next to its mama. Which is a Mendel90 prusa i3 hybrid. 12x12 bed abd 12mm rods lovingly dubbed the Mendel big 12
What are you using for the lead screws on Z for the mega Mendel pictured. I am designing a 12x16x16 h-bot right now and haven’t come to a decision yet on the z screws
Is that an Ingentis?
yes and no. A lot of this is from @Tim_Rastall ‘s Ingentis design and as such a lot of credit goes to him. Also Goopyplastic gets credit as I am using his corners modified for less bolts and for 1010 sae 8020 I am also planning on a few more modifications for the z stage and the x/y ends. When completed it will be on youmagine. I am dubbing it the Ultislot as its’ roots are from the Ultimaker. Credit definitely goes to Sublime for the work on the tantillus which is where Goopyplastic started his variant and @Tim_Rastall who actually helped me get started. Also to note all of the rods in the Ultislot are 10mm as I got a good bulk deal. Tim/Goopy/Sublime/Ultimaker I apologize in advance for the butchering and melding of your designs. I have only made small modifications to other’s parts and frankensteined a monster together, as i did with the big 12.
@Eclsnowman I actually used 5/16 steel threaded rod non galv .used the prusa calc and then calibrated the steps.
@Eric_Moy The reason why I released the files for the Ingentis early was to allow for folks like @D_Rob to make their own changes and get started on builds, I will be trying to keep the Ingentis I put on youmagine as easy to print/source parts for as possible. It’s very modular so you can readily chop and change parts depending on your personal preference.
Dustin, bear in mind - I’m working on a revised Z stage that uses an 8mm shaft to drive the 2 pulleys (the 5mm shaft is really hard to source at 500mm lengths). I’ve learned a lot form the current Z build - it’s a devil to keep it level at present but the belts are giving a really smooth surface (better than leadscrews). The next iteration will solve the levelling problems I think.
I’ve also got a half finished design for a closed loop Z stage using GT2 and the same arrangement of pulleys as @David_Moorhouse s cable bot.
@Tim_Rastall I’ve really gotta thank you so much for your selection of bearings, etc and making this usable with the T-slot Tantillus ends.
