T-Glase driveshafts!
How the…did you get T-Glase so fast? How strong is it?
Interested in hearing everything about T-Glase…
@Emile_Wim it’s a secret…
No, I got a small amount for testing.
I finally assembled everything but it’s late so no testdriving until tomorrow.
isn’t T-Glase the same as PET?
as soon as my Extruder (FilaFaba) is in the House, i will try printing Parts with recyled PET.
@Regina_Kunze I have no idea but their website says PETT…
Ok, T-Glase for driveshafts was a no go… They broke. This far ABS has been best. However, the best thing would be to beef them up. But at this stage it would mean alot of work, adjusting other parts aswell. Maybe it’s the only way to go though…
Haven’t tried Nylon for the driveshafts? Or did curling put a kibosh on that?
@ThantiK I printed them without warp but i quickly realised nylon is to soft and the shaft itself is a little weak so it won’t work, it would only twist itself.
I guess I could always buy steel ones but where’s the fun in that?
I’ll work it out!
I want to run a few laps on the track before winter is here!
I must be missing the scale of these things then. I figured Nylon would twist, but surely there’s some point where it would stop?
@ThantiK Sure, but they are little thin, only 5-6mm in dia. Also around the pins in the ends (where it always cracks) there´s not alot of material to keep things together. And on top of that the driveshafts spins at an angle since the central diff is off center.
Anyhow i had actually already started looking at remodeling some stuff for better durability.
I won´t be satisfied until i can beat the crap out of this thing before it breaks! Some would say it´s not possible, i say it´s just a matter of time! =)
You’re doing an amazing job so far, I keep track of this stuff on a regular. You’ll get it. I know you will.
@ThantiK Thanks!
@Daniel_Noree So what was the final result? Did you manage to make durable driveshafts? On the first look it seems viable to replace the metal pin with a six-tooth gear and get six threads on the diff instead of two. This should spread the torque and act sort of as a CV joint.
@c9604e9093cd01806821 T-Glase driveshafts was a no go at the current size. Maybe add some more material and print them in Polycarbonate will male them stronger.
Great idea btw! =)
