Looks useful!
I recently bought a small and cheap Borescope-Camera for my CNC Mill.
I’ve seen People using these for Positioning and basic Edge-Finding.
A friend of mine already mounted a Camera to his modified K40 running LW4. But he still use some 3rd party webcam tool.

As these Cameras connect via USB, we could use the builtin Camera function of LW if our awesome Programmers could extend the Webcam-Interface by a simple Crosshair overlay.

An even more flexible way of providing (basic) Webcam Oberlays would be to draw and load any Overlay by yourself.
Like the new drawable UI/DRO

If this is possible (and not to complicated) a programmable Macro Button would be nice to set a predefined Offset (Cam to Laser)

Concept of Use would be like:

  1. Open Cam Window
  2. Jog to desired workpiece position
  3. Klick macro button to do something (i.e Set work coordinates to XY Zero

These Cams are way cheaper and easier to set up than Beam-Combiners.

Thanks to Alois for providing the attached photos.

Another Photo from the current Software he is using.

Please leave some Comments on what you think about this Idea with drawable Webcam-Overlays.

Dev version of LW has alignment aids using augmented reality algorithms. Have to go further down that path.
