What size is that bed?
184 x 75 cm
Wow! Impressive!
I’d expect stock wood-pieces that are up to 185cm long to be wider.
Are you usually working with smaller pieces , cut to size or slender lathes?
As I mention somewhere this CNC is build in to one goal: to create furniture for me. So it is designated to cut fronts of wardrobes, drawer etc. Other big elements will be ordered and cut to needed size. I was missing machine with long one axis also to cut flying models to my friend.
Till now I was working on CNC which have 430 x 320 mm working range and it was enough.
…and 75cm is more then enough for one side of a door. I see.
My mill is 300mm x 200mm!
600x400 for the big one and 300x400 for the TravelCNC.
However the portal-height severely limits the diameter of any cylindrical part on the 4th axis. (Both are 4 axis machines. The big one is prepared for a 5th axis.)
If I will build new machines I would like to have 5 axis machine. For now this is far future.
I started thinking about a 5th axis due to my work on

5 axis machining should provide a real smooth surface by following the surface normal vector in 2 instead of only 1 dimensions.
