Looking at the picture you can see it’s a colorfabb spool. Perhaps they’re just using the magnetic field to magnetize colorfabb Ironfill?
At least this article isn’t as bad as the last headline I read.
3d printing of magnets is not actually a new invention here, been a commercially available product since at least March of this year, and it enables some very interesting effects.
