Cool…Skull…
sorry but which printer is this ?? first time i am seeing this ??
Looks like they where building a CNC and had a change of heart halfway through the design process.
Looks like a 3DP machine
oh yes … PBC linear systems … i guess it has to be the 3DP
That is the skull that I printed on that initial Printer. Myself and another designer created the large format printer for 3D Platform.
Where can I get the 3d data file?
@Holm_P If you mean the skull file itself it’s the terminator skull several uploads on makerbot etc.
That can’t be the most effective printer design…
nice machine. please share déign.
@Quoc_Anh_Le the machine is a 3DP1000, a commercial, proprietary machine.
@Nathan_Walkner actually, it depends on the rotational strenght of the Y bearings to prevent the whole Y gantry from rotating around the X axis.
From a mechanical standpoint this design does not really looks like it makes sense to me. (But who am I to judge. I’m only a software engineer with 4 years of full time 3D printing experience)
@Nathan_Walkner I’m not saying moving the bed is a good idea. You might have missed the fact that I’m part of Ultimaker
I’m saying that this setup isn’t really smart IMHO.
Also, on breakage of moving wires, you design should account for that safety wise. Electronics should shut off in case of a short. And you can pick a type of wire that is allowed to move. But in most prusa builds, price is first, reliability and safety are second.
@Nathan_Walkner the problem I have is… Due to the hanging gantry supports, you need to put out on a surface no wider then the bed. Which means that it’d be impossible to install it on most workshop benches, let alone oriented to face the user
nice
