Oops. #3dPrinting

never alone!!!

@Davide_Pedretti_Biag I normally don’t leave a print alone, but this was a 13.5hr print and I really needed it finished. When I left work last night, it was around 50% completed, and had been rolling smoothly. Still trying to figure out what happened. There’s no kinks in the filament roll, nothing blocking the platform, and the model seems sound. Who knows.

Kind of a nice mess, though. I rather liked how it cascaded down the sides.

I think we all print at least one FSM (Flying Spaghetti Monster) at some point

they now when U go away and start to mess up!!

Wow…

Update: cleaned the gunk off the extruder and tested the nozzle, all seems fine there. Printing a test with a model that I know works to see.

Probably won’t try to print the pig again.

This has happened to me with my Afinia as well. Print was moving along nicely, so I took the dog for a walk. Got back and found a rats nest.

In my case, it nearly finished the model, and then air-printed (Z was maxed out, and the extruder was moving in the X & Y) for quite a while.

This is only the 2nd time it’s happened with my Afinia

Did you get me my cheese whiz boy?

Long time printing will raise the extruder temperature, when it reached 60 degree C, the surface of filament will become soft,

And the filament will slip from extruder.

@Shieh_George that’s kinda what I think happened. However, I’ve printed 12+ hour prints before with no issues. Still could be, though.

mmm… string cheese)

@Ricky_Cadden still enough time to do it over, right?
