Got a 3mm barrel and an adjustable idler? But don’t have 3mm nylon to do a cold pull cleaning? Here’s proof that 1.75mm nylon works just fine too!

Wow. Can you define “cold pull cleaning” as my nozzles are pretty blocked.

Yeah, I’ve used 1.75 to clean out a 3mm machine before. It doesn’t work as well as 3mm, but it can be done.

It definitely needs a manually tug on the filament to get the extruder to start pulling it out (with the idler locked all the way), but I did find the thinner filament diameter might squeeze by really tricky clogs. I only used 1.75 because I ran out of 3mm a while back.

Yeah, I’ve had ones where it helped to slip 1.75 past an obstruction, let it melt to form a plug as shown, then use that plug to grab contaminants from below and pull them out.
