Got me a kossel 3d printer.

Got me a kossel 3d printer. I built it, leveled the bed but I use the default setting to try and run a test print it seems like the nozzle is not close enough to the bed for the filament to stick well (also could be settings as this is my first experience with a 3d printer and I just went with what the instructions said as a default for the slicer) when I bring the print nozzle to (0,0,0) should it be barely touching the bed or do the little slide a paper trick? Any info would be awesome thanks.

Slide the paper trick. It should also be consistant regardless of where on the x,y plane your nozzle is at. When the bed heats up, it is possible that it will bow up or down, so do test test with the bed heated. Some people slow down their first layers. Check for Tom’s youtube guides. They will help. There are also some visual guides on the reprap wiki somewhere. Make sure your towers are parrallel to the bed and the ceiling of the kossel and not slanted in any direction. Good luck!

The nozzle barely touching the bed would jamnyour nozzle. That or a few other issues could cause underextrusion which would also cause bed adhesion issues.

I got it to where i can move a paper under it but still feel a little drag from it rubbing on the paper…is this to close?

Nope. That is perfect. .1mm. the thickness on a single sheet of copier paper. Too close will make a mess, too far, it won’t stick.

Just make sure that gap is consistant across the bed with the nozzle and heated bed up to temperature.
