Got my auto bed leveling sensor. Now to figure out how to mount it, wire it to the Ramps 1.4 board and configure the Marlin code. Any help is appreciated.
My printer is a Folger Tech Prusa i3 2020. The sensor is a 12 mm one I got from here: http://folgertech.com/collections/sensors-and-modules/products/lj12a3-4-z-bx-inductive-proximity-sensor-switch
Hi, I’m waiting myself for one to arrive so i’ll be interested to see how you get on. You may need to make a bracket of some kind, there are some you can make yourself on thingiverse etc. The sensor needs 12v, the output should be fed through a two resistor voltage divider network before feeding it to the ramps board. The sample configuration I saw used i/o pin 18. I have downloaded a custom version of Marlin to use with my Rostock style delta printer. Hth David.
So to connect it to the Ramps board, I hook up the power leads to my 12v power supply and the sensor lead to a resistor then to the Ramps board input?
I followed this guide video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcGFLwj0pnA
I would be interested to know how this works for you, I have a similar setup and I could never Marlin/Ramps to detect the probe correctly. I tried several probes and every guide I could find.
Is this probe only to be used with aluminum bed plate?
He said its inductive, so yes only metal will works. If you wanna detect glass you need a capacitive sensor
I have a borosilicate plate over the pdb heat bed. I plan on using copper tape on the pdb for the sensor
Tom’s guide is excellent for it. If you want I can send you a picture of how I powered it on my ramps. Just let me know as I’d be happy to do so
Griffin, a pic would be very helpful. Thanks!
