Got very different PTFE tubes today. Going to do some comparisons.

Happy to get more over to you if you need it? @Michael_Hackney

No, I should be fine with 1m. Thanks though. I thought you had a new tube. I have tested a bit running TPU and PETG pushed through a coil of the stuff just to get a feel for it. It pushed a lot easier than standard PTFE. I will measure the pull force and compare.

@Rene_Jurack interesting results, i thought capricorn PTFE is better than the white e3d PTFE as the guys at e3d suggest . interesting to know what guys at e3d and capricorn have to say

@Sanjay_Mortimer1 I got the Capricorn from filafarm.de as a free sample and immediately asked them for replacement bc the tube seems off. It was denied. You offered to get me some tube as we last spoke, maybe a tube without QC-issues could be it to solve my bad results?
What really wonders me is all the people stating, that pushing filament through seems easier without doubt. I can not feel any difference at all. I even gave the tubes to my wife, without telling anything and asked her, which filament would go through which tube easier. She tested longer than I would have expexted her to do :rofl: and couldnt tell a difference, too :thinking:.

@Rene_Jurack I would be very happy to get some tube from our stock to you. Beforehand I’ll have a good look through it to see if it also has eccentricity. I don’t want to cherry pick good product, but I do want to ensure we’re not all making conclusions based on a faulty batch. Making hardware can be hard and it would be bad to make lasting conclusions based on a single bad batch.

When taking our white tube, and the pre production samples of captube we tested there is a remarkable difference in the subjective manual push test. It’s really noticeable. All this kind of reinforces the theory you may just have a bad length of tube.

We did all our testing with pre production samples. We’ve not tested the production lots of tube from captube.

@Rene_Jurack Do you have a length of TPU filament you can try pushing through the tube? That was where I saw the improvement, and was why I switched to Capricorn. I’ve never been able to blame PTFE tubing for PLA feed problems, even when that same PTFE tube would bind up on TPU halfway to the hot end.

I have a Mitutoyo digital push-pull force gauge and have tested standard PTFE and the 1.8mm ID tubing I’ve been using for a few years, My plan is to rerun tests with normal and the Capricorn with PLA, ABS, PETG and TPU. Give me a week or so though to get all this done. If there are any other specific requests for tubing or material please let me know.

@Michael_Hackney Do you have a link to the mentioned 1.8mm tube you are using for years?

@Rene_Jurack here you go: http://www.tridprinting.com/Hot-Ends/#3D-Printer-PFTE-Teflon-Tube

Thank you, sir. :slight_smile:

Btw.: Tridprinting has been selling those since around 2013 I believe. :wink:

Hardly anyone cared, now a competitor with good PR comes along and people start noticing them. :grinning:

See: https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/deltabot/BsgnfNu_D-w

I cared and I’ve been touting the benefits of it since 2013 or whenever it first came out.

@Michael_Hackney have you ever tried the PTFE tubes sold by https://www.fluorostore.com/products/fractional-metric-ptfe-fluoropolymer-tubing ?

They offer a 1.8ID/4OD version too.

I’m seriously considering buying some from them and tridprinting and have it sent over to @Rene_Jurack for further testing, if he’s willig to do the job. Wie wär’s René? :wink:

@Martin_Klein Nice, 200$ for shipping 10feet to germany :rofl:

@Rene_Jurack I take this as a “yes“ then. :smirk: Just ordered 13 feet:
“Estimated delivery: Nov. 27, 2017 - Dec. 1, 2017“

You’ll get 6.5 feet of the fluorostore variant as soon as it gets here. :laughing:

We’ll have to trust @Michael_Hackney 's expertise with the tridprinting PTFE tubes this time. I don’t see a problem with that. :grinning:

Wow! Thats pretty generous! Thank you in advance!

No problem, it’s just money. :smirk:

Seriously, 200 bucks for shipping? Do you think I’m nuts???

The tubes can be bought at http://Amazon.com too. I just paid 24,99€ including shipping for 4m. Let’s hope they get here soon. I’ll just send them over to you once they’re here. (2m of it that is, I’ll keep the rest for myself obviously.)

:money_mouth_face::money_mouth_face::money_mouth_face:

Looks like I’m going to get some good specimen :+1:

@Rene_Jurack
The tubes have been shipped in the meantime. According to the tracking information I should have them on Monday, Nov. 27th. You can expect delivery of your sample on Wednesday, maybe even Tuesday if all goes well.

@Martin_Klein Thx for the update :blush:
