grbl/bCNC probing and setting WCS zero with plate/tool offset.

Can anyone share their setup and tips with probing to set WCS Z (and XY) zero?

I’ve seen all the nice Mach3 videos (looks like they are using a canned cycle).

We should be able to script the same things with the user buttons on bCNC…

I’m just having trouble getting my head around everything. I have a nice probe with a circular hole for edge finding also.

I currently can probe Z and it will stop on the plate, but then where do I apply the plate thickness?

If anyone can share their workflow, I’ll see about scripting it up. Thanks.

Under the probe tab you can set the offset but you have to use a - number. You can search this on YouTube and there are some videos.

@Jamie_Wilson Thanks, I’ll try the negative offset and search again on Youtube.

One last question – So TLO should be negative, but what goes into the Pos: fields? From memory, I had X and Y blank and then had a -25 in the Z to probe down a max of 25mm.

And I’ll try and find a good youtube vid. Thanks for the help (I did have a positive TLO…)

Ok – found a good video:

Steps are probe down, probe stops, hit Z=0, type negative TLO, then hit set. The WCS Z then shows the positive TLO in the WCS.

Thanks!
