Hi,
I have been running my laser cutter with the smoothieboard for some time now and it works great. I’m planning to install a Zprobe to help with the height difference i have along the cutting area.
As far as i understand, the normal Zprobe is a three point probe where the X/Y for each point that can be set thru for example M557 P0 X30 Y40.5. However, when i cut large pieces then a three point probe isn’t the best.
I’m interested in the “Grid level compensation” but how can i handle the “bed size” settings thru gcode? My cutting area is 1000x500mm and mostly the material im cutting is much smaller than then and just put somewhere in the cutting area without homing. Instead im zeroing the X/Y after manually moving the laser cutting head to its XY origin.
So, basically what i would like to do is to use the grid level compensation similar to the zprobe by just filling in the X/Y size of the material that im cutting and then having it to make multiple probes in that area and not the whole 1000x500mm cutting bed…
For example, i put a 20x20cm piece on the cutting bed and then manually move the laser head to on of its corner. Im then setting it as the 0 X/Y start position (no auto homing) and then i would like to perform a grid level compensation on a number of spots on this 20x20cm piece.
Would this be possible?
Thanks!
