Guys, I have a question with quite cut spindle, I have a Dewalt 660 and I would like to replace it with a quite cut spindle . I can not take the noise of the 660 Would you buy with 300watt or the 400watt ? Their is not that much money difference in the two price wise , but will there be a big power difference ? I cut a lot of plywood and hard wood . No metal . Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Honestly I have a quiet cut spindle and yes it’s super quiet but I’m selling mine if you want to buy it. Anyway I got a DW611 and could not be happier with it.
I’d go with this one http://www.aliexpress.com/item/400W-CNC-12000RPM-Brushless-Air-cooled-DC-Spindle-Motor-with-Driver-High-speed-Long-life/32225640731.html
It’s similar to the quiet spindle but better (as the motor is brushless)
If you plan to use the speed control supplied by Inventables you’ll be restricted to the 300 watt. Also, keep in mind you’ll need to recalculate your feeds/speeds as the DW660 is more powerful than either of those. If the reduced power is an issue I hear that the DNP611 is quieter than the DW660 but I can’t say by how much.
If you do want mine let me know I have everything you will need to use it.
I have both and they are both load , If I am going to lose that much power then maybe I have to deal with the noise
Kurt,
I purchased the 350 Watt supply and have zero complaints. I have cut wood and no issues there either. If I had to do it again I would go for the 400. Having a little too much power is better than a little too little. If your ok with the price increase do the 400. You will be happy with either one so don’t base your decision only on power. By the way you will love the noise reduction!
The videos I have seen it is a lot quieter , what kind of speed are you able to cut at?
I was cutting walnut with a ⅛ bit at 30mm
I always cut at full speed which is rated at 12,000 RPM. If the rpm is lower than what you use just cut beck on the feed rate. in most cases your wont see much difference.
I can have a conversation while milling standing right next to the machine. lol
To me it’s power vs. quiet. I’ll take power.
I absolutely love my DWP611. It’s an absolute monster.
Also check out the SuperPID. It’s a little pricey but well worth it. I use it with my DW660 and couldn’t be happier.
I have little kids and work late at night… I needed a quite cut spindle. I had the DW660 and lived the power and feeds but not the sound. Now I can work anytime and have kids watch without hearing protection.
I would get the 400 Watt. More power, still quite.
That’s my problem two , my kid likes coming out and watch me work. I cut at night in my garage with the door open until about 930, and then I have to close it ,that is when it gets very loud. All my other tools I can use at night I can even use my tablesaw.
@Venuto_Woodwork how much do you want for your quite spindle set ?
@Kurt_Schuppert I will figure that up
Hi, im waiting for my shapeoko3 and id like to get a quiet spindle mainly for wood/plastic and just a little of aluminium (i have a makita and im happy with it but CNC times at that sound volume wont be ok for me and my neighbours). Which one do you recommend me to be 100% compliant with shapeoko3?
Also, some advice about clamps and beats would be appreciated (im out of the US)
Thanks
