Guys I need help figuring out an issue I'm having with my e3d v6

Guys I need help figuring out an issue I’m having with my e3d v6 universal. It will stop extruding after about 10 to 20 layers. Cooling is on direct to 12v and Heatsink is cold. Manual and software extrusion are fine so no clogging. I can even extrude 500mm without any issues. Temperature reading does not drop either. Extruder keeps rotating but filaments does no come out. Retraction has being set to . 4 to see if it was causing it to clog and nothing. Tube goes all the way down to the heatbreak. Any ideas on what else to look for?

  1. Try to keep retraction lower – according to manufacturer specs: “For direct extrusion systems you should use anywhere from 0.5mm-1.0mm, for bowden systems you might want to go up to 2mm.”
  2. Use thermal paste on heat break threads. Without it my printings stopped because of clogging after 15 to 45 mins after start. (#E3D added it this summer also to assembly steps, I was in communication with them maybe with other users with the same problem.)
  3. Some minor upgrade: Chamfer the end of the PTFE tube to better sit on heat break inner plane. After completion (direct drive only) do not forget to pull out the small upper black ring (with knife etc.) to fix tube inside (it will not move and filament will not flow under it).

#E3DV6

adding a drop of olive oil on the filament feed helped me.

Push the Teflon tube all the way down. Hold it in place while pulling the collet as far up as it’ll go. Insert a spacer below the collet to keep it in a locked position. You’re having a retraction problem, but it’s not your settings.

Thanks guys I’ll try all your suggestions

+1000 on the thermal paste!!! I had the same problem on E3dV6 - the thermal paste fixed it.

Canola oil and thermal paste did it. Thanks guys
