Has anybody succeeded in running a vanilla (3.11?) Linux kernel on the Beaglebone or Beaglebone Black yet?
Yes. I’ve successfully used 3.10 on both BeagleBone and BeagleBoneBlack. Of course, the amount of hardware support is quite limited, but you can boot, access the network, I2C devices, etc.
