Has anyone ever made a Cartesian printer that has two separate steppers control the y axis?

It is an interesting idea for a large scale printer. It would allow shorter belts to control the y motion instead of one long one. But I am worried that motors would get out of sync and cause a torque on the linear rail carts.

have you noticed problems with different belt tensions for belts motors?
Maybe you can recomend any existing printer in market which has such setup?

Shorter belts? How would that work?

Yep, i was thinking that too.

With a Duet you can home the steppers individually to eliminate tilt. I use this on the Z axis, but you could also do this on any other axis if you drive the motors individually.

@Brook_Drumm Do you see any benefit for such design over 1stepper motor driven?
