Has anyone ever tried igus-style pla linear bearings?
Not in a 3D printer but I have used them in other mechanical systems. Just last week I used our Form1 printer at work to print a housing, reamed the inner wall dimension to size then pressed in some Igus linear bearings to achieve a slick, consistent, and tightly toleranced surface that the Form1 couldn’t provide by itself. They worked really well!
I use pla lm8uu’s on my mendel90. If you keep them oiled they’re fine!
@matthew_bennett
what kind of oil are you using?
I allready tried vaseline, and that seems to work.
I used 3-n-1 light oil with PLA bushings. Check out these IGUS bearings we printed a while back : http://www.typeamachines.com/collections/materials
Thanks, that’s real helpful.
