Has anyone had a QU-BD OneUp shipped to Canada? Is shipping really only $16?!?

Has anyone had a QU-BD OneUp shipped to Canada? Is shipping really only $16?!? Seems really low - I hate putting in all kinds of personal information just to find out a product’s shipping costs.

I checked out Printrbot’s Simple and shipping is just under $70 via the post.

$16 in the US, its gonna be more internationally. Be sure to check out the Fabric8r forums before deciding whether to support them as a company, specifically how they’ve treated RPM customers. (14+ months without product or refund). Also: http://www.bbb.org/arkansas/business-reviews/internet-shopping/qu-bd-in-little-rock-ar-90276210/complaints

I’ve got a One Up, it was re-shipped with the newer packaging after having had a visit in Hawaii and back to Little Rock. It was in their newer style packaging. It did arrive in California undamaged. However, I agree with @Tim_Elmore1 that you should consider their current state of affairs. If you decide to get either of the One or Two Up printers - you may need to mod right out of the gate with a way to keep the X-axis from sagging.

I am an international QU-BD one customer in the UK and I was due a January shipment. Even allowing for delays and mistakes I am still waiting for the printer, confirmation of shipment or even a reply whether it’s been shipped or not.

For now it’s just 300 or so $ of vapourware for me. Not my only Kickstarter mistake but definitely the most expensive at the moment.

Still, they might just be a very disorganised company? That’s my hope anyway.

I think that they are just disorganized. I don’t think they are necessarily bad folks just not great business folks with a challenged customer service program.

Having bought a TwoUp, and been very frustrated, I agree that QU-BD is disorganized, but not badly intentioned. Still, not a thrilling experience as a customer. I’d recommend the Printrbot Simple as a comparably priced printer kit. I’ve met the founder of Printrbot at several Maker Faires, and he’s always been extremely helpful, and very generous of his time. And the Printrbot printers are surprisingly good for the price.

I think that QU-BD’s engineering is pretty good, but where they fall down is on the follow through. For example, packaging is “iffy” - the TwoUps are made from MDF, which is fragile and had a fair amount of breakage in shipping because they’re under-packaged. And the TwoUp still isn’t complete, because they did a last-minute redesign to support a heated print bed, so the modified part and the print bed (and attached parts) haven’t shipped yet, so my printer is functional but incomplete. If they were better managed, there would have been a lot less stress.

@Dario_Molinari have you received your QU-BD One yet? I see the website is saying they are taking pre-orders for May delivery.

Mine has shipped on the 9th of April but hasn’t made it to London, UK yet. I was giving them a month before attempting to track it since allegedly it takes forever to cross the Atlantic.

@Dario_Molinari were you a kickstarter backer or did you order from the site? And yeah, if the shipping isn’t some kind of fancy rush (expen$ive) job, it will take a few weeks.

Hope you get it soon! I’m curious to hear what these printers are like…

Alex, just a lowly Kickstarter January su**er like 1408 more and yes, I should have spent a few pounds more and gotten a Printrbot but like you say the QU-BD sounded and looked like a nice product. As you can see from the comments it seems like a decent enough low-cost product with horrible logistics
I will keep you posted on any development.

I don’t have my One Up running just yet - I am working on the X-Gantry sag. I can’t find good quality pulleys of appropriate size for this mod. But I did try a bit of manual control - that wasn’t promising at all, so I will also look to add end stops as well.

So, latest update is that Royal Mail has the package in the UK… I’ve just payed the Customs charge and am expecting delivery on Tuesday - I’ll post an unboxing video on Wednesday hopefully!
