Has anyone scrapped an i3 and created a different printer with the parts? Im thinking about scrapping a spare i3 i have and using the existing x and y rails to make a corexy style printer. Im trying to figure out how i can use the existing z axis to move the bed plate up and down. Any Ides

I like Smartcore for this, there is option to use z-rods for bed position.
