Has anyone seen any DIY write ups / instructions for a room scale FDM (e.g. plastic pellet) printer?
You could look at richrap’s pellet extruder and scale it up.
Also there is the “kamermaker” or 3d printed canal house where they something similar.
It’s not super DIY friendly because you’ll spend $10k building it if you want it to be any good. And then each print will be $100 even with pellets.
@Ryan_Carlyle 10k seems a little high, I guess it depends on how it’s built, which is why I’m looking for inspiration!
@Liam_Jackson Room scale is hard. Everything is heavy and heavy makes everything cost more. If you use ball bearing skates on angle iron, surplus motors, cheap chains and bicycle sprockets, Chinese electronics, and jury rig a drillbit auger for the pellet extruder, I think you’re still looking at well over a thousand bucks in hardware for really coarse print quality. Plus, still, hundreds of bucks in pellets per print.
Not pellets but it may inspire you.
