Has anyone tried to 3d print estes rockets? Does it work?

I’ve seen some on YouTube I think…

I routinely print rockets and rocket parts. But the thing is that rocket body tubes are super heavy for those motors and you are better off doing fin cans, nose cones and things like camera enclosures. I have printed some rockets end to end and flown them. But the bigger, the heavier…and I do mean MUCH heavier.

Take a look at some of my G+ posts for some examples of rockets I have printed and flown.

I was thinking about 3d printing one with my school’s 3d printers.

Feel free. Just remember…weight. and don’t use PLA. Use AbS

If you gradually widened a narrow rocket toward the bottom, you might be able to cram a huge engine into a smaller rocket to make up for the weight problem. You’d need a way to keep the launch lug straight on the slanted body, though.

For that you can put in a standoff. However that should be extra sturdy to handle the streases

I’ve had hundreds of these printed by various folks over the years from PLA, ABS, PET.
