Has anyone used the sense 3d scanner. I’ve tried with scanect and its very hit and miss. I need something portable kinda need what the Sense promises and would like to know if it actually delivers and if I need their sculpt software or if the included software is sufficient. While saying that will the software do a better job with what scannect throws out
Ben Heck did, check out his video
I tried scanning a building interior last summer with an Xbox Kinect and scanect and whilst the result was pretty good for the cost of the software and hardware (free software and £100 scanner) it wasn’t actually any use as a point cloud for BIM as the scans wouldn’t align - just not enough data from the scanner I guess.
I have a Matter and Form one…
i want to get a kinect v2… I wonder how good are those Intel 3D cams… ?
We use and sell the Sense, and for the price, it’s a terrific scanner. The included software does allow some decent editing capability before the scan is exported to a mesh file (STL, OBL or PLY). We have a number photos of 3D printed objects on our web site which were scanned with the Sense. The Sense is best suited to scanning people, it really excels at that application. We also use and sell the Makerbot Digitizer, and it has its own advantages and disadvantages.
I need to dig out my Sense, update the software and try it again. I know the earlier software was rubbish, I couldn’t get a good scan out of it to save my life on a brand new high powered i7 laptop. It worked OK with a 3.6GHz desktop.
