Have a feeling this is going to be a simple answer, but am swamped, confuse, frustrated and could use a little advice.
My z-axis is travels 1/2 the distance I’m expecting.
I’ve got a Shapeoko 2 with the stock z-axis running Grbl and UGS. I’m using the settings from the Shapeoko Wiki.
$2=320
$3=30
I’ve played with the value of $2, but got unpredictable results. I’m not even sure I’m playing with the right setting. Also, I’m starting to suspect I need to reset the Arduino or restart UGS for changes in settings to take affect. I’ve generated tool paths in Easel and MakerCAM with the same result.
Thanks in advance.
Can you tell us what version of Grbl you’re using? $2 is correct for .8, but in .9 it changed to $102. Also check your microstep jumpers on the Grbl shield as shown in this doc: https://github.com/synthetos/grblShield/wiki/Using-grblShield. If those all check out, you may just need to double your $2 or $102 value.
better yet, just post your entire $$ output
I bet you’re right about the Grbl version.
hmm… and I’m guessing it is a stock Shapeoko 2? The issue might be in the G-code somehow (although that would be odd also). But I don’t see any issues with the grbl config. Is it possible your z axis current is way too low? Not sure if you adjusted that.
You may want to post this in the shapeoko forums too as there is probably many more folks in there that can help.
