Have an issue with my Migbot, auto levelling, firmware’s been configured with help from the support of the place I bought the kit from, Z axis offset is correct, two slicers with the same settings which have been played with within an inch of their life to get the best print I can, bed is lathered in hairspray, extruder’s calibrated within about 0.5-1mm, so I’m really stumped. As far as I can see it should all be fine…
What are your first layer settings? And it looks like your nozzle is still too high off of the bed. The wiggily skirt line should be straight an even. Not a zig-zag…
I’ve never known anyone to print directly on the aluminum like that. Every picture of the migbot I can find has blue tape on top of the bed, or some sort of PCB looking material. Have you tried using blue tape? Not the shiny stuff, but the dull-ish looking, textured blue tape.
Even a piece of glass would work.
@Keith_Applegarth - Printing at 0.2, first layer 0.14, Z Lift is at 0.8 180c nozzle, 60c Bed for PLA this seems to be the best outcome so far. Z offset should be correct, the paper has a slight bit of drag at that point and I’ve played with the offset in the slicer and adding any more than 0.03 kills the print and is too low so as far as I’m aware it’s not that. As for printing on Glass, technically it’s not possible (although there is a way to hack it) as it’s Auto Levelling.
@ThantiK - Was on blue tape, same issue, tried masking tape, same issue, direct on the bed was a last ditch effort to get it printing nicely. Not tried Kapton since the Z offset was set to a usable point, got fed up of it being Torn due to trying to figure out the auto levelling in Marlin
If you want a Video of the print, let me know and I’ll sort one out.
First of all, your first layer is way too thin. Set it to .4 and 200% extrusion (staight out of the Slic3r manual). I made the same mistake.
What auto level system are you using? Sensor or servo?
It’s a Sensor, layer height was going on what I was told by the guy who helped with the firmware… I had it around 0.3 before that…
I’m a dolt, seems the model I was trying to print wasn’t on properly flat on the deck, so it was the model, I just put the STLs through Replicator and made sure they were flat on the deck, and it’s now printing happily. Success!
@Ax_Smith-Laffin According to the Slic3r manual, the first layer should be twice your nozzle size AND at 200% extrusion. However, I find the 200% to be a bit much and have mine at 150%.
