Having a slight issue. Resurfacing my spoiler board with a 1” surfacing bit and I am getting small ridges along the x axis. Any suggestions as to what I need to adjust to fix that?
I am actually surprised that hasn’t happened to me. You have 4 wheels on the z-axis that should be non-adjustable and define square. Simply setting the 4 internal adjusters and then the 8 external adjusters to tight in that order should fix your problem.
@Colin_Kaminski thanks. I will try that and see.
To be clear this is a misalignment of the z axis with the x axis. I.e. the spindle is not perfectly perpendicular to the x axis, so as the spindle steps over to do each pass you get this scalloping pattern.
Colin is right in that you can adjust the offcenter nuts a little to adjust this, and you will want to tweak the tension on all your wheels to get it more perfectly aligned. This adjustment is called ‘tramming’, google around there’s a variety of methods for measuring it and tweaking till you get square.
There is ever so slight of an adjust to the R7 small spindle clamps in the perpendicular line to Y axis. I use a 1.25" fly cutter to level the board, if this is noticed on a new build I make adjustments here. You might find you can get the lower clamp in or out more.
Loosen the spindle in the clamps, loosen the lower clamp attachment bolts. Go the direction you need, keeping pressure in your direction, re-tighten the attachment bolts.
Repeat for the top. Then tighten spindle back in making sure the spindle feels “free” looking for the clamps to be parallel to the X axis.
Also make sure the machine Y C-Beams are flat on the spoiler board. Any misalignment here will echo through the whole build.
@Brandon_Satterfield thanks
Thank you @Ben_Delarre and @Brandon_Satterfield Those tips helped me out.
