Having issues with a TAZ 5. I think I know what to do, but I’m interested in what feedback this community could give me

First print was when we first got the printer, second print was now, reverting back to the single extruder after having issues with the dual extruder. (Ignore the bent part, that was my fault)

What do you think I should do to calibrate it? The z axis is nailed down

Well, did you change anything like filament supplier, firmware, etc.?

@Justin_Nesselrotte the firmware did get changed when installing the dual extruder, and got flashed back when we changed back to the single extruder. Both filaments were 3mm makerbot filament

Is it the exact same gcode or did you slice it again?

I resliced it, but the settings and program version were the same

All of this was with the same extruder, the dual extruder required to flash different firmware which I then flashed back. It was the change in firmware that messed things up

Looks a bit over-extruded… but as a test/control, you might try using the same gcode and the same new firmware flash with the old material, if you have it. Had some weird issues here and there with the same maker, but different colors having different properties so they extruded better/worse at different temps than the other color. The colorant can sometimes change the properties of the filament.

But regardless, testing with the old material, if you still have some, might give you an idea if it’s the material or the gcode/firmware/hardware. Eliminating possibilities is good.

@Andreas_Tischer actually, no, you don’t have to reslice it. If the slicer sees you’re only using one material, it should heat only one extruder.

If you re-flashed the firmware won’t that nuke all the calibration settings? Might be worth looking into.

@Reed_Arnold i’m pretty sure thats what happened, i’m trying to figure out what to change
