Having one of these on a Pi with Octoprint would give some interesting insight into how our prints cool down, how uniform the bed heat distribution is at the start.

That would be very cool (I mean neat, fun)!

Mark, your insightful ideas never cease to amaze me. This would be brilliant, as the control of heat is the name of this extruding game.

Thanks Glen. At $349.95 they’re quite pricey. I’d need to know a lot more about it’s interface, if it could be wired to a RAMPS1.4 without modification. And if @foosel was interested in dual video recording in Octoprint.

@Mark_MARKSE_Emery honestly, I’d be all over adding something like this (as a plugin though) just out of sheer curiosity. Too bad the module is so expensive or I’d straight up ordered one just for playing with it.

@Mark_MARKSE_Emery Where there is a will, there is a way. Keep bringing great ideas to the table.

Thanks to @Ed_Baker_E_Baker we have another supplier of these sorts of devices to check out - http://thermal.com. If they can do a thermal camera that plugs into an iPhone for £199 chances are we can source the sensor for less. Or we can try to convince the dev kit people that if they cut their profit per module and go for higher volume sales they’ll make far more.
