Having trouble getting Json to find a serial port. Installed the FTDI serial COM driver and Json but still no luck. Any tips? I’m running Windows 7, looks like I might need the D2XX driver as well?
I also tried to install Json on my Ubuntu laptop but also no luck. Anyone have a install command they can share to install from thelinux terminal? Thanks for any help you can provide!
When you plug tinyG USB cable into your PC, does a new COM port appear? Do that with CP and SPJS not running. If not, then your driver is not working correctly. Aso, tinyG or tinyG2(DUE)?
It almost sounds like your TinyG board has no power to it and thus why it’s not showing up on either platform.
I have power on TinyG power light comes on fan comes on. I was able to get my windows 8 desktop to connect to Json and find a Com even with no TinyG. I thought you needed Json to detect a com port first then connect TinyG? Desktop is upstairs though really need my laptop to connect. Thanks for the responses guys any other thoughts?
Can you send some screenshots? It sounds like this has nothing to do with Serial Port JSON Server and instead you just simply don’t have any serial ports showing up in your operating system.
FYI went to device manager in windows on laptop and no com ports are listed only USB.
@jlauer John I think you may be correct. When I try to connect Json it say Ajax error and something about being in state 3. I’ll provide a screen shot this evening. I think it’s something to do with the FTDI driver maybe not installed correctly and therefore not able to use a USB as a serial port?
I got it guys! Discovered I have a bad USB port. Plugged TinyG into another port and it installed device drivers. Then I checked device manager and serial com was available. Switched com to COM3 reloaded Json, opened chillipeppr and bam COM3 popped up! Also checked this in coolterm and it found it as well. I’m getting communication with the board. Now time to config
thanks for the tips! @jlauer @cmcgrath5035
