Heated bed to 110C, liquid abs, enclosed… and still some nice warping.
Does the same thing happen if you Raft.
And second have you Pid your bed
Do you have a link for the pid process?
I’m in the process of trying to solve ABS warping myself so I’d be interested to hear what people say.
Enclosed, but not heated?
From my experience white abs warps more than coloured.
Lately I’ve been printing 2mm brim and 5 loops of skirt 2mm from the print. Results in a large brim which helps a bit. Long straight walls will warp more regardless.
Printing ABS on to kapton (on glass) tape has always worked well for me. What is the surface your printing on to?
@Daniel_Wood , speaking from experience, that print would probably lift the Kapton off the glass.
Printing on glass, heated to 110 degrees C and it always sticks very well, smaller objects print without a problem. I should try Raft first then PLA and if that still warps then will try pid. Hopefully it’s just bad old ABS filament.
What was print temp? I try to get low as poss to avoid warping and layer delamination as it cools.
Just use a thicker layer of liquid ABS, and make sure you put it on right before you heat your bed, so the heating bed drys it.
@Dale_Dunn lift the kapton off the glass? The main problem I have is getting the object off the bed once its printed.
@Daniel_Wood I get that too. A big enough part with enough warp will pull the tape off the glass, creating a bubble.
Glue stick is the holy grail of bed toppings. Take my word for it.
I went through over half a roll of natural ABS fighting this issue. In the process, I learned that: 1. square corners are hard, 2. “natural” ABS warps more, and 3. if the heater temp is too high then everything will be harder. These problems largely went away when I switched to green. Maybe some of this will apply to white as well. Good luck and don’t get discouraged!
Funny I had much better luck with natural ABS then others. I have found a brim to be key for printing ABS. Print temp can have an effect so you have to try a few temps to find the sweet spot. It is very important that your filament is extremely dry, moisture promotes warping. Now that I have my makeraser I love abs juice.
What temperature did your enclosure get up to? Maybe you didn’t let it get up to temp?
Huh, for temp of enclosure don’t know, should measure someday. I’ll try with brim first and a little more abs juice.
With 2mm brim and lots of ABS juice everything is ok. No warping at all. Thanks for suggestions.
