Hee! Just a little fun.

Hee! Just a little fun. #chilipeppr been 'bery 'bery good to me today!

You need a new mount for that spindle!

@Matt_Miller true enough. I 3D printed one but haven’t gone out to get the hardware yet.

That is awesome. Ditto on the mount for the spindle.

Your machine should be rigid enough. Just mill new ones from 1/2" aluminum. I’m not entirely sure that a 3D printed mount would be any better then your current setup. Even a part with a high perimeter count might not be as stiff.

Which spindle is that? What’s the OD? I might have a mount and dust shoe that’ll work.

If it’s a 300W spindle there’s a file called ‘Shapeoko 2 300W Spindle Mounting Plates’ in .dxf and .dwg in this folder:

There’s also a cambam machining profile in there for that part as well.

There’s a bunch of other things in that folder. Feel free to poke around.

@Matt_Miller thanks so much! It is the 300w spindle from inventables …you may be giving me too much credit though… I’m new to all this and haven’t done any aluminum yet :grinning: but I’m willing to give it a go! This is the part I printed http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:439283

this looks great @Colleen_McGuire . I love it! Did you just stain / paint some pine? I would love the gcode. I want to make one TONIGHT for my son!

@Riley_Porter_ril3y Haha thanks… here’s a link if you really want it… I lost some detail on the robot but it works. and yeah, just painted some pine wood blue… https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B27cWVrnYvDoWDcxQmtwYUJZSjg&usp=sharing

@Colleen_McGuire you should post this to @ChiliPeppr

very nice. Congrats!

you should also check out F-engrave and a v-bit. Let’s you do v-carving for signs and graphics like this.

@Frank_Graffagnino I’m on a Mac right now…thinking I need to install a windows partition to use things like F-engrave?

hmm… maybe. it is just a python program. Theoretically, if you have a good python installation, it would seem like their python only installation would work. But, I’m not familiar with mac stuff.
