Hello all. I have been having issues with my bulldog lite upgrade. I have attached a j-head MK8 and calibrated a few times. I set up slic3r to print paramiters at 25mm/s and infill at 50mm/s. Temperature for PLA is set at 190. But still getting prints thay look like the ones below.
I am not sure what I should tr to adjust next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
It almost looks like a combination of over extrusion and over shooting. Is this extruder heavier than what was on your machine before? You may need to up current to the steppers, or slow your print speeds, to deal with the increased inertia if that’s the case.
Yes. I removed the plastic carriage and replaced with metal x-carriage, then mounted bulldog lite to it. I will try to increase current next.
That will only go so far in helping before you either get steppers that don’t step properly (you’ll know it when you see it, they’ll chunk and jump and hum but not really respond as you want them to) or steppers/drivers that get too hot. Depending on how much mass was added you may also need to turn down speeds.
Before the upgrade I was running the motors a little less than 70% of their max. I will try to increase them now and run the print again.
I would also decrease extrusion multiplier to 95%
Besides the other questions…got fan?
Did you adjust the steps/mm for the drive gear in the bulldog? It looks like the p3steel e-steps is 750 or so, and RepRapDiscount suggests 107 for bulldog lite.
I hear that fans are supposed to be very good for PLA.
current setup is
e_steps_mm = 105.985142
e_motor_current = 0.6
motor_current = 1.2
speed_param = 25
speed_infill = 35
multiplier 0.92
I notice that the when param get’s laid down it is very wide. How would I adjust that?
