Hello all!
I’m asking for a quick review of my tentative homing switch placements.
I figure I’ll need some good torque and red locktite on a couple of these. Does anybody see any issues?
Thanks in advance!

I really like the Z switches. I might have to change mine now. Maximises the travel.
My X and Y I mounted on the end plates.
Looks good.
I was able to make a small bracket on the end of the Y axis that spades the switch 5 mm off the end plate using an end plate bolt. My goal was to have the machine hit metal on metal before I could break the switch body. On a friends X-Carve we have broken a few switches.
@Edward_Bigham , I wanted to put the Y’s on the gantry plates, like the new R7 design. I just felt that I couldn’t ensure I’d have them “square” to each other. Or at least be able to adjust them, with out an adjustment “foot” on the end plate.
@Colin_Kaminski , I downloaded the photos of your designs, and I was going to copy your designs. I wanted a simple (non-welding) solution for the “X” bracket. I had a few brackets I was toying around with, but end up feeling like this was a good option for me. My Z was based off your design, just mounted in a slightly different area.
I appreciate the feedback. It sounds like there isn’t any (obvious) issues with these locations. I will revisit these today. It was almost midnight by the time I got done with the initial mockup. I had spent a few hours getting my frame modified (based off of Colin’s design), but with a twist. Its a new day, I feel I may be easily convinced to get out the bandsaw and TIG welder and do a few bracket mods.
Thanks!
Corey
Nice! I have everything apart today and I am replacing the bearing plates. Fingers crossed I got all the holes in the right place.
You guys are top class makers!! Love to see the modifications and expansions.
What are the yellow are you c-beams?
@Anthony_Box . They are ??protective?? shields. Basically, I just use it to help keep things clean. It prevents dust from getting trapped in the cracks.

@Corey_Perez lol I meant what are they called. Asking so I can find some.
@Anthony_Box Google communities is a PITB, I just spent 10 minutes looking for your inquiry/post. I got my covers from http://8020.net. I got the two linked below, one fits better (tighter) than the other, but both work.

PITB?
Thanks for the link
PITB = Pain in the butt
I use it to rout wire but the cost has kept me from using it for dust control.
It cost me next to nothing, including the shipping to Alaska.
That being said. I don’t really know where @Colin_Kaminski lives.
The link you posted was less than Open Builds and I have lots of C-Beam to cover up. With shipping to CA it was going to be about $75 so I opted for just getting enough to hold in my limit switch wires. The shielded wire I use only barely fits but so far the shielding works. I am using microphone wire from Musician’s Friend. It was the most affordable shielded wire I could find by the foot.
