Hello Community!

I had nothing to show until now so heres my first post

I said once that I don´t see any necessity to design a printer at least if it is only mediocre and does nothing new. I couldn´t resist as a certain youtube channel made me more and more doubt if I could do a simple one at all.

So here it is so far with the mechanics in place. Nothing special but for the sake of gaining experience I´ m glad I tried it

Looks nice!

I second that. Very clean looks. Once you clean up the wiring and all that, it will be very professional looking. I am interested to know how well the hollow tubing works in your Y-axis.

@raykholo Thank you :slight_smile:

@Samer_Najia Thank you! All the components are in the bottom of the case, easily accesible when flipped on the rear. I´m not sure if the tubing is enough, that is ordinary aluminum tubing from the hardware store. That can be changed easily but I had them already, so I give them a try

Do you know Frank?

@Thomas_Herrmann Nice. I look forward to seeing the outcome. It seems rigid enough to warrant a ‘Mega’ version at some point. Plus a small mod here and there and the whole thing can be its own enclosed box. All in all, NICE!

@raykholo You mean Frank Herrmann? No I guess we are not related but I saw his posts here and there.

Hehe. Yeah that’s who I meant.

@Samer_Najia Glad you like it  At least I designed it to be easily moddable with other linear motion mechanics for example but I had to start somewhere and the first things it will print are surely mods for itself. I had a new direct drive extruder head in mind but had no time to think more about it just yet. Will report back after the first prints.

Nice! I’m very new to 3d printing as well. I just bought a cheap one a couple weeks ago but the idea of having everything tucked underneath is a great idea. I may have to mod mine, maybe after I get it working though. Lol. It’s tricky! I’m close though!

@Kevin_Danger_Powers Cool, I also started with a cheap printer some years ago. It was on sale and I couldn´t resist. Wasn´t the worst choice in retrospect but it was very limited in regards of modability. It did it´s job quite well and remember the first magic weeks of getting into 3D printing. Thrilling

Very nice job. You obviously have more skills than you thought. I am impressed by the design choices you made, gave me some ideas for improving the cheap-as prusa I’m building.

@Rien_Stouten Thank you, I really appreciate that. Be careful with my design choices as they are not tested just yet :).

@Thomas_Herrmann Don’t worry, your design for the frame is as rigid as possible, and that’s the only thing I’m probably going to copy.

@Rien_Stouten ok, that should be rock solid already  . I might need a OS License as soon as possible :stuck_out_tongue:

Note: What you can´t see, there are two 60mm fans in the back that suck air through the whole case cooling psu and the other components they are necessary.

Short update: it prints surprisingly good. Adding cooling fan tomorrow and See how good the benchy turns out
