Hello,
does anyone know if I need to put a capacitor before each ws2812b strip? I have a Teensy 3.2 with OctoWS2811, and fifteen 5meter strips on a 80A PSU. (Less than 20% of the strips will be on at a time, and only in red color, so I should be well below 80A consumption)
I currently have connected 8 strips with 1 capacitor for 4 strips and another 1 for the other 4, I have not tried connecting more strips to these 2 capacitors as I don’t know if its a good idea.
Also, I will power the Teensy with a separate smaller PSU, and if I understand correctly, I should connect the grounds between the two PSUs? I just run a wire from one PSU’s ground to the other?
Thanks to anyone who can help!
For reference I’ve ran nine 5m strips off a teensy/octo adapter without a cap without any major issues to report.
It all depends on the power supply quaility. I used to get weird issues so begen using caps at the start of each power injection and all issues dissapeared.
