Hello! Does anyone know what could be causing the surface of my prints to have this touch liney texture please help I need it to be smooth again!
@Karla_Isabel the file seems to be all good I’ve only recently had this problem the past couple of weeks it wasn’t there before.
Use a acetone vapor bath
@Carl-Philip_Hansch Its in PLA so I don’t think that would work
Inconsistent layer hight, slipping of the extruder, wobble, a loose pulley, unstable temperature, drivers getting too hot.
But layer hight consistency is probably your biggest problem, which can be caused by wobble, as I recently experienced.
@Rien_Stouten Thankyou do you have any advice on how to fix the layer height?
Making sure your z axis goes straight (uncostraining them leadscrew/threaded rod might be a good idea) foe z wobble, pid autotune your thermistor (m303 c5 s230), lower your x,y acceleration (rapidly moving x,y without stable/rigid frame/axis couse wobble too)
Moisture in the filament can cause it too. Poor quality filament, and overextrusion also. Make sure every screw on the machine is tightened to spec.
This is not what you were asking about but…
I would recommend a larger layer height for more texture for the knife handle so you can grip it.
Observation step 1) Make the z-axis run up 50mm and watch your nozzle/threaded bar for wobbling.
Observation step 2) check extruder gear for contamination.
Also check belts for correct tension. Deteriorating parts can lead to a sloppy axis.
Suggestion: Try other filament too. I found a wide range of effects were attributable to poor filament.
EDIT:- This is by no means an exhaustive list but at least they’re easy checks.
Up your resolution ?
You could also try upping your temp 5c and seeing if it improves.
yup, to cold. New roll of filament?
It may be moisture in the filament as I had it sitting out of the air tight gel container for a few weeks so I guess I will try printing the same model with different filament and then if it improves then I will know that’s the problem and if not then it must be some of the other stuff you guys are saying. Also thanks so much for all the support it really helps!!!
