Hello everyone! I'm Daniel Jackman.

Hello everyone! I’m Daniel Jackman. Fairly new to the 3D printing group, and I’m excited to be here. I would like to publicly thank @ThantiK for getting me to the point that I can post, and digging into the spam filter to pull out my original posts.
I’ve been excited about 3D printing for a long time, but have only owned my own printer since May. I started out with a FolgerTech Prusa I3 kit, which was a good place to learn. I started having some troubles with the electronics when I accidentally shorted something on my RAMPS board while adjusting a limit stop. :\ It all went downhill from there.
But, as they say in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, “from the ashes of disaster grow the roses of success”. This gave me enough exposure to the 3D printing scene to know what I liked and didn’t like. After some research, I learned that my once ‘printer’ was tinker toys compared to what was out there. I’m now running on a RB2 (Originally RigidBot, but now supported by ReliaBuild) and have seen a world of difference. I don’t have any wobble in my Z axis anymore (quite the headache before), and I’ve learned a lot about the basics of filament calibration from their online videos and tutorials (a great place to start for ANYONE on ANY printer). The LCD menu and interface on this is a dream in comparison. SO easy to level the bed, and finally print from a USB drive (not an SD card. Sheesh. This isn’t a camera people!). Special thanks to @Heath_Harper for getting me straightened out and flying right with 3D printing. With the kind of support and results I’ve been getting from this printer, I’m expecting this to be a very lasting and fun addiction.

My pleasure to help out Daniel. If everyone where as excited and eager as you the world would be better than anyone could expect! Welcome to the world of successful 3d printing!’

@Heath_Harper Haha! I’m flattered. And thanks.

Welcome to a great community! You will find lots of great tips and help here so don’t hesitate to ask any 3D related question and generally someone from around the world will respond pretty quick. From the pictures on your other posts (very nice work I must say) I can see you already printed a new glow-in-the-dark part cooling fan duct. You have a nice machine there. :slight_smile:

@Jeff_Parish I sure do! I have you to thank for the upgrades. I’ve loved your designs on Thingiverse for the cooling duct, tool holder, and filament spool spacers. Good work! I can’t wait to see how your T-Rex turns out. I might have to get some white filament and try it out…or get more glow-in-the-dark, or try it in black. How big of a print bed have you needed to pull that one off? I noticed you scaled it 2x.

@Jeff_Parish It glows AND blows!

@Daniel_Jackman Thank you! Glad my upgrades have been of benefit. Nice looking duct work there and very effective. :slight_smile:

I plan to make an update post on the T-Rex today or tomorrow. Almost done. Everything can be printed at 2X on a 10 X 10 X 10 printer. In fact, most of it has been done on an RB2 just like yours.

Heath (above) wasn’t kidding about your enthusiasm! It is contagious. :slight_smile:
