Hello everyone.
Where can I buy decent but cheap 1/4 router bits. I’m a beginner, so getting bits that cost $40 each and break or burn them shortly after due to my learning curve, isn’t much fun. I don’t expect to cut high volume and I only will cut wood or MDF. I bought a few on eBay, but the quality was very poor.

For wood, especially MDF I would recommend single flute (if you can find them) or 2 flute. MDF is pretty abrasive and so does wear out lower quality tooling very quickly.
I’ve had good luck with bits from various Chinese sources on eBay. How are you breaking a 0.25" bit in MDF? Do you think you are feeding or plunging too fast?
I’ve been buying 1/8 inch bits from this guy and never had any issue…but then again, I’m pretty conservative in feed and plunge rates : http://www.ebay.com/usr/drillman1
Also, if you haven’t already, check the shapeoko wiki, there is a list of materials and feed rates that folks have shared. Maybe that will help.
I was just about to post a link to drillman1 but I sow someone beet me to it his bits are very good
I buy all my bits from Aliexpress.com, they are cheap, free shipping and work well in my experience.
