Hello FastLED users! So far I have been having a blast using FastLED and I had a few questions about the posting in the community in general. I have never used google+ other than the few times I have posted to the FastLED community. I have posted a few times in the support section regarding a project I am making for School. However, after a while I stop receiving answers to questions that I have because my thought is usually to continue a Thread in a forum rather than making new ones. So I carry that to here. Rather than starting a new post I continue with my older post. With that said, I do understand everyone here gives help and advice on their own terms and on a volunteer basis. I think that is awesome and it enables makers (like myself) to engage in a completely user ran community.

While forums usually take to using older threads when possible is that the way it is expected here? Like I stated above after a day or 2 I stop receiving answers to questions I have. Should I just start a new post when different question rather than Using my older post? I do wait quite a while to see if responses do pop up. I’m not knocking on not receiving help or anything, the help I have received has been amazing. Just not sure if Posts get lost down the line or not… Please understand that I am not in anyway upset or knocking the community. So far it has been great I’m just trying to find the easiest way to interact and get questions answered at the same time!

Sorry for the WALL-O-Text!!!

tl; dr: If my post gets old, should I ‘nudge’ it or just ask another question.

Although posts can get lost in the shuffle, I’ve seen lots of successful post/thread resurrections. I wouldn’t recommend post spamming, so performing some additional research and providing a carefully thought out description in your post is always a good idea.

Oh, and brevity is always appreciated.

New questions should be in new posts. When you ask new questions in the comments of an old post, the only people who would see it would be people who commented on the post previously - which means your question would only likely be answered if one of the people who previously commented on that post a) saw the new question and b) knew the answer for it

(One of the things that I find irritating about a lot of online forums when searching for help/questions is the amount of digging I have to go through in threads that meander across a half dozen different things)

@Daniel_Garcia @Andrew_Tuline Thank you both for your reply. Those were the answers I was looking for!

Thanks for asking, Erin, and thanks for being part of the FastLED community!
