Hello, folks. I’m new, and if I haven’t posted in the best place, please forgive me and direct me to the right one.
I’m about to buy my 1st 3-D printer. Hobby use and simple product prototyping. I really want to be able to print in a clear material, and I really want to spend under $1000. (This new BendLay material looks really nice, I’d like to use it.) And I don’t want to be tinkering with my machine the whole time to make it print acceptably. Are there any printers that meet these qualifications? Anyone who’s using a printer in this category and likes it, please let me know your experience.
What are your area requirements (if any?) - the only printers I know of that are mostly tinker-free are the UltiMaker, the LulzBot TAZ, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the new metal Printrbots come along. There is also the Bukobot/Bukito, which are amazing printers in their own respects. Short of the the last ones I mentioned, most of those I listed are above the price range. Especially when ordering preassembled, you’ve gotta factor in the time it takes for them to be tuned and assembled - so price jumps rather rapidly.
The Cube 2 is pretty easy. It’s 1,200, so a little above your price range, though. It walks you through the printing process. http://cubify.com/en/Cube
