Hello here is a picture of my rgbw apa 102 led stripe. Any suggestions how I can efficiently control the rgb with the example programs and the white separately? Thanks
Looks like alternating pixels are RGB and WWW?
I don’t have one of these to test, but you could help a great deal in learning about it.
If you take any example program, and add this JUST before the call to FastLED.show(), I bet you can program either the RGB or WWW. Could you try that and confirm?
#define ODD 1
#define EVEN 0
// choose odd or even here
#define WHICH ODD
// zero out alternating leds
for( int j=WHICH; j<NUM_LEDS; j += 2) {
leds[j] = 0;
}
//now call FastLED.show();
And try with WHICH as EVEN and with WHICH as ODD. If my guess is correct, one way will just light the RGB pixels and one way will just light the WWW pixels.
If that’s correct, then we can talk about how best to program them!
Do you have an application in mind for these? What made you choose RGBW for your application? This will help us understand what some of your goals are – even if it’s just exploration, experimentation, and play!
Also, where did you order these?
Thanks Mark,
I will try your sketch and play with it I think the white is WWW but I haven’t tried it up to now. My Application will be a special lamp, 2m high with 10m of this led stripe. But these lamp should be usefull also as an normal ambiente illumination with warm white --> thats why I have chosen the RGBW. And now I have any possibilities with colors and mixing them… I think its interresting.
I have bought them here:
http://www.szledcolor.com/index.asp
They made it customized for me if you also want to have some ask for Lauren she knows it.
Hey @Lars_Walpurgis , is the strip 12v?
No its 5v. 12v isn’t possible
@Mark_Kriegsman your example code works. The white LEDs are WWW! And the whites are ODD. Thanks.
Good to know-- thanks!
@Mark_Kriegsman have you seen my other post with the problem of the pins? I don’t know whats wrong with them… This makes me crazy
@Mark_Kriegsman www.sfleds.com this factory produce this apa102 rgbw led strip
