In what format is the data sent from the app? Do you have the ability to change what format is sent?
So little information to go on, so I’ll take a stab . . . I suspect you’re trying to receive data serially while driving a strand/strip of WS2812 LED’s using a standard Arduino. I had very poor results with that combination and use APA102’s instead.
